MISSION

At Canyonleigh Retreat, our purpose is simple: to make a quiet, practical ecological contribution; celebrating seasonal eating, growing sustainably, and living naturally. As our guest, you’re invited to switch off and slow down, to savour the stillness this place was created to protect. Behind the scenes, we work to minimise our carbon footprint through thoughtful, measurable practices and smarter operations, ensuring your stay leaves a lighter footprint and honours the land that sustains us.

OUR STORY

Canyonleigh Retreat was born from three decades in food and hospitality. A move to the Southern Highlands for some quiet soon became a commitment to create a place where good food, thoughtful service, and nature come together, an eco-retreat shaped by seasons rather than schedules.

Built over four demanding years - through record drought, snow, rain, and the disruption of COVID-19 - we opened on 1 November 2021. The property continues to evolve; improvements are ongoing as we learn from the land and the weather.

Across the grounds, you’ll see the vision taking form: east of the vegetable garden, the gully reserved for our Earthship Greenhouse; beside the car park, our café, kitchen, and market garden; and to the south, a 12-metre pool and spa set against the forest tree line.

Accommodation includes suites designed for calm and comfort:

  • Suites with fireplaces and private balconies

  • Self-contained apartments, including one accessible apartment

  • Master suites, with or without a bath

Wildlife is part of daily life here: kookaburras, lyrebirds, white herons, rosellas, red-tailed black cockatoos, eagles, wild ducks, wombats, wallabies, koalas, and kangaroos are regular visitors. Caves on the property point to a long and continuing Aboriginal connection to this land.

Our purpose is to make a quiet, practical ecological contribution, celebrating seasonal eating, growing sustainably, and living naturally. As an in-house guest, you’re encouraged to switch off, slow down, and enjoy the stillness that Canyonleigh Retreat was built to protect.
